Literature Text

A hobbit I once saw, his feet quite large, his eyes most blue
A crown of curls he carried as his prize, a carrot in his basket,
a feather in his pocket.

I asked him where he went, with feather and carrot.
He smiled and laughed and carried on, large feet shuffling by.

I walk my own path he said on return, the carrot here for later company
the feather to fly away.

\'To fly away?\' I asked and followed after, my own feet stumbling, even fumbling.
\'To fly away to where?\'

He smirked and shuffled faster, the feather fleeing from his pocket
across his curls and far away.

\'To when not where.\' He said and moved on after.
I pondered and conjectured, no answer finding question.

\'Then when?\' I called out and ran now faster, my eyes now straining and almost paining.

\'To a time\' he stated simply \'when it mattered not where you went
or why but where alone you could be lost and found with only a carrot for later company,
no questions or answers but a feather with which to lose time.\'
A poem most obviously inspired by JRR Tolkien's writings. I am not what can be considered a poet and this is one of my first pieces. Critique is welcome.

I like the simple message of the piece. Ochin Horoscho. =)
