I could not post this until now :). Cover art for I was privileged to do for a literary anthropomorphic themed magazine called Renard's Menagerie. You may visit the site to find out more about the magazine at: [link]

The cover imagery is meant to depict one of the stories from the issue.

Well this was a challenge in more ways than one. I don't typically paint people for one..and of course wolves aren't something often seen from me as well but overall I really enjoyed painting this piece and learning as I went along. Some stock photos were also used to mesh with the painted elements. I have been leery of using stock photos in combination with painted elements as I still have mixed feelings on the matter...but even that in itself turned out to be a learning experience. I also worked smaller than I usually do for such paintings.

Size: 10x6.5" at 300 dpi
Tools: photoshop & graphics tablet
Time: ? Can't really say
Prints: 8x10 available through my, 10$ plus S&H, pm or e-mail me if interested

Critique: I welcome constructive criticism but I am also fully aware of the flaws in this piece..as I have been sitting on it for over a year now!

Sasuke: Whoopie...
Kakashi: Okay seriously, Naruto, you need some Ritalin. And Sasuke, you need some Prozac.
Sakura: What do I need?
Kakashi: A slap across the face.

I must say that despite the fact you don't do people or wolves often, you definitely excel at them.

Sorry. Your eyes are better than mine, 'cuz I don't see any flaws at all. The wolf is just beautiful and its eyes, and the eyes of the human girl are both luminous and compelling. I am wondering if the girl and the wolf are one I n the same, or at least related, as there are certainly parallels between them. I don't know what the story is behind the images, but the picture speaks of sorrow, or perhaps betrayal? That pale water lily in the girl's hand mimics the full moon behind both figures and provides a counterpoint to the dark foreground. I also love how you have done both the wolf's fur and the girl's hair, however, as a person who has been stalking your art for several years now, I am not at all surprised by the quality. You have always done superb work.

I am not sure how much of the story I am allowed to share. It did touch me. The wolf and girl were lovers...but when she was returned to her human form by force, the wolf told her he could not restore her wolf form. Upon her return she not only lost her beloved but the children they had created when she was a wolf..children that were too young to survive without her milk. I felt it was a very well written story and it certainly tugged at my heart's strings. Thank you for your kind words in turn C:!

This is absolutely beautiful... Wow... It just... completely captured me. :) I must +Fav it. It reminds me eerily of a character I played in a recent Werewolf: The Apocalypse game, too.
