Artist's Comments

An otter girl, a quick sketch on 9x12 bristol for the Anthrocon 2006 art show.

I actually had fun doing this one, it wasn't meant to be perfect or flawless but just fun and a little break from building stress..and it certainly achieved that. Yes I am putting a lot of my pencil work in my scraps..not because I view them as scraps but because sometimes the work I secretly love I like to hide away where less scrutinizing eyes are likely to see. I am not perfect and sometimes all the criticism I get on some pieces actually gets me quite down..seems silly but sometimes I still feel quite small in the big ocean of deviant.. Plus I actually value the comments and faves I receive on my scraps more than on my deviations..its simple..you actually took the time to look at all the art I do..and I am humbled and honored by that. Thank you to you all!

tools: mechanical pencil on bristol
time:? 3 hours maybe?

Yay otter! :D She looks wonderful... nice fur texture and anatomy an' stuff. I was just going to say... if THIS is in Scraps, I should give my skills a major overhaul! =P Excellent work, and mechanical pencils rule.

Very pretty. I adore the pose, and her expression. The yin-yang with paw prints was really clever, too! But I think the prints should be in the repective places of the circles in the symbol itself. The hair in this looks a little stringy as well, so i'm going to assume that's how you wanted it in the Fifth Element picture. Her face looks a little off, though, the {her} right lip looks a bit bigger than the left, but it good also just be my perception.
I think my favorite part would have to be the wee crown on her head, and the wall. Your work always looks like it must have taken a lot of patience. =)

It's extemely well doner but you put down advanced criticism so you must obviously want some. All in all it's a good work but the effect of light is too well done, I would fill in the light space with a little more then those little spirels and also I am not too sure about those little curls on the bottom of the otter's ponytail. But I'm no art expert, this is just my opinion, it's still a great piece of artwork. The fur texture is great.
