Artist's Comments

Well I was rather intrigued with the idea of doing an underwater picture as its something I never even thought to try before. The last picture began as a simple exercise to see if I could render a realistic..or somewhat realistic ocean scape. Dory was mere filler, adding a touch of detail to the image.

In this revision I aimed to achieve again an underwater scene, this time adding an ocean floor, lightning, rocks and foliage for a more lifelike scene. Naturally it took on a more cartoonish look but I can certainly say I learned a great deal and know how to better future pictures of similar likeness. Though Dory is not perfect(and yes the wonkie eye is driving me nuts :P) I drew the picture more for experimental purposes than anything. The older version will likely be removed with this new update.

Feedback and constructive criticism is welcome!

did you use photoshop for this, i've used it to make that same ocean bg before too ;) [link] yours looks tons better than mine though, as is all of your other art hehe. i love how you did the ocean floor, and even though im not a fan of finding nemo, i like this pic overall ;) awesome job!

I used photoshop for the water(the tutorial was rather helpful to begin with but I deviated from it and tried a few things of my own which I think helped it) but I used Paint shop for the rest. Dear old neglected paintshop....though many prefer PS I like paintshop for many things over Photoshop.

Huh? Photoshop? I thought you've rendered it with Blender oO
One more reason to :+fav: it ^^

*faints* absolutely BRILLIANT!!! :D If you didn't say you did it in PS/PSP, and it had no name to it, i'd think it'd be akin to the Disney crew, and well done on that :) (don't mind my ramblings XD)

Wow, I didn't think that there was a whole lot you could do to the original. I guess there is. Nice job!

I think you should add the flecks of dusts. I remember noting little gold things floating in the water, barely visible, while watching the movies. Just a thought.

Wonderful work, you did a very good job. I think you should add some dark figures in the background somewhere, to add more depth to it. The ocean's a big place! I love dorys expression, although I'm stuck at what she's staring at. Probably a shark, lol. Great job overall! :+fav:

Great as always, Ana. ;) It gives off sort of a ..caribbean feel. . now I wish I was at the beach. -sigh.-

Very great work you've done here Balaa. It's very well done and Im suprised you used only PS and PSP! The only thing I could point out that stands out in my eye of criticism is the ocean floor lines ((not on rocks those are great ;) )) are a bit to solid and strong on the ocean floor. Other than that, fantastic work with this piece Balaa!
