A private commission for the winner of my first furbid auction of his lynx character K'thara.
This piece was the culmination of about 2 weeks of work. I ran into a roadblock with the background when the character herself was finished. I went through at least 3 different base background before coming to this one. And yet even with the background present, the piece was still lacking something. I left it for a few days and came back to it last night determined to finish so as not to keep the buyer waiting. Finally after a few hours of plinking around with different ideas, the obvious struck me; its autumn, leaves fall in autumn. Well the placement of each individual leaf was plotted out with precision so as not to distract from the main subject, the character. The leaves are blurred so as to draw attention to her, sort of as if a photo was taken and the focu being placed squarely on her.
All in all this was a pleasure of a piece to work on and in the end I am happy with it. It finally felt 'finished'. I only hope the buyer truly and wholeheartedly likes it.
Final size: 5293 pixels x 3848 pixels -or- 26.5 inches x 19.2 inches
resolution: 200 pixels/inch
Hours taken: 25-35(havent the slightest clue so it is a rough guess)
Wow, digital painting is truly your speciality. After seeing the fur tutorial I still won't stop wondering how the hell you can make the fur so.. so... ... um, furry. I also love the background. It's simple but fits like nothing else. The colours really make the eye rest on this piece, truly gorgeus. Only thing that bothers me is the small, tender (can I say that?) hand that doesn't seem to fit in with the big furry face. The hand should be more fluffier and sturdy. But if it's about the character herself and not you, I understand.
The crispness and detail of the fur is stunning! I still love the way you draw eyes and the tufts of fur inside the ear. The paw and the tree are very realistic too, as well as those leaves!! This has to be one of the best of your pictures: The clarity strikes me as brilliant! The composition is very well done. A definite fav!
Very lovely Balaa! I remember seeing this pic in it's beginning stages. You did a terrific job indeed! I've always loved how you do your backgrounds. How you're able to make the background blurry and feel "far away" but at the same time easily identifiable as to what it is. I agree with you about the leaves. I think they fill up the empty space well.
I think my favorite part of the picture though is her eyes. They're so life-like and beautiful!
As always, I'm completely enraptured... The leaves... just make me jealous. xDD I always struggle with flora in backgrounds. But you've, yet again, posted another masterpiece for our drooling pleasure. Muchloves.
Wow! So incredible... The detail is amazing... The focus of the leaves... the fur, the background. Your artwork is amazing. The addition of the leaves just works wonders to the final picture. I wish I can snag a comission from you sometime.

Well I came across a dancing crab and I stopped to watch it shake I said 'Dance for me just one more time before you hybernate and come out a crabcake!'
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
